The Seen Library Bookstand

No. 2 — The Seen Library Bookstand took place at Platform in Culver City where we took over a magazine stand and filled its shelves with a selection of pre-loved and intentionally curated books.

Each book was wrapped in soft paper adorned with a custom library card of handwritten clues, so that guests were able to choose a book by its contents rather than its cover, making for a thoughtful gift for themselves, a friend, or the mother figures in their lives. Each title chosen offered the chance at a new perspective, giving readers the opportunity to experience a welcome shift in this season of growth.

The Seen Library Bookstand was truly a dream — I was overwhelmed by all the support, encouragement and kindness from the weekend. Seeing this little passion project come to life twice now in such tangible ways has been surreal. Never would I have imagined that it would result in having a little bookstand that people would actually want to come to and that the amount of books we had allotted for the whole weekend would sell out in just a few hours after open!

It’s really special to see that so many others crave what I, too, have been craving — real life experiences and opportunities to meet new people, over a shared love. Words can’t describe how thankful I am for all who came, supported, took the time to have conversations with me and one another.

It felt like I was a little kid again, hosting a lemonade stand and everyone from the neighborhood came to indulge me. It is a really beautiful feeling. Thank you and I look forward to the next one.
